body-image

Have you ever wondered how meat is produced in a sustainable and family run farm under the harsh Arctic conditions? Experience the life of a Norwegian Black Angus farmer and get a firsthand taste of the local specialities he produces.

The tour starts by picking you up with our modern and comfortable minibus in Tromsø’s city centre. After a 90 minute seaside drive along magnificent fjords you will meet farmer Birger Bull, who will welcome you to his farm and restaurant. Birger’s presentation inside the farm will give you a close insight into what farming means to him and his family and how the animal’s well-being contributes to the meat’s quality. You will learn about the life of the cows, what it takes to keep them happy and healthy, and even how they automatically send information about their unborn calves to the farmer’s phones using SMS. You’ll be surprised how modern farming can be!

After the tour inside the farm you will follow Birger into his restaurant, where you’ll be served a delicious meal full of local ingredients you will find nowhere else, while overlooking a nearby fjord through the farm’s panoramic windows.

Dry salted leg of Norwegian goat, snow white goat cheese and fermented goat sausage, topped with Arctic cloudberry syrup, following a 150 year old recipe.

Enjoy the farm’s specialities with a choice of rib eye steak or filet of Black Angus on a stick with pepper fruit, homegrown Arctic potatoes, mashed with cream and glazed onions and wild forest Arctic mushroom sauce.

Home made ice cream cake with caramel and chocolate pieces, directly from Grandma’s kitchen, served with coffee or tea.

Choose between Valpolicella Ripasso, an Italian red wine, and a biodynamic white wine from the Meinklang Angus farm in Austria. Beer lovers will enjoy Tromsø’s Mack beer from the world’s northernmost brewery. There will also be a great choice of non-alcoholic drinks.

Important Things to Note

Frequently Asked Questions

general

  1. We use Norwegian kroner (NOK) here. Most shops, restaurants and even taxis here take credit card, so if you bring a little less cash, it shouldn't be a problem too as long as you have a working credit card.

  2. For your clothes, we would recommend bringing water resistant and wind proof outer layers, woolen socks and woolen underwear, preferably merino wool. For your shoes, we would advise that you wear shoes that are waterproof, well insulated and something that allows you to wear extra layers of woolen socks in if it gets colder.

  3. If you would like to purchase a SIM card with a data plan, you may visit the big shopping center Nerstranda in the city of Tromsø. There is a Netcom shop in there where you can buy a prepaid SIM card.

  4. I'm afraid we are not able to take enquiries on the phone due to our daily and nightly trips. We handle all bookings and enquiries online at the moment as we will be able to answer them faster (we have more people checking the emails) without missing out on any previous information communicated between us.
